When Ben reads an old newspaper on microfilm in the library, the headline reads “Local Drunk Victims”
Scenario
An author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot to find inspiration for his next book, only to find that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. Writer Gary Dauberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal with the new version of Salem’s Lot is to make vampires scary again. It wants to get away from the sexier, more romanticized undead that have infested pop culture for most of the past quarter-century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight to The Vampire Diaries.

The movie had some decent scares
The acting was solid, but the plot was rushed and, something I will never understand, they felt the need to rewrite one of the greatest writers of our time. Too many stories were dropped while others were strangely crafted. I just wish the story had been developed properly, which is where a series of episodes would be appropriate.
Do movies still test audiences?
The Marsten domestic murder story could also get some time as it’s a great subplot and explanation for why Barlow and Straker choose the house/location. Barlow’s makeup was beautifully done though, so that’s something. It seems that is no longer the case.
